Nicki Minaj has been nominated for four awards at the ceremony including the category for best new artist and also the best rap album for her album Pink Friday.

Other performers at this year’s ceremony will be Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson.

The UK star Adele has been nominated for six Grammy Awards after her successful year performing in the US but it is not yet known if she will perform at the ceremony as she is still recovering from an operation that she had on her throat in November last year.

Bruno Mars (who is also set to perform) is in line for six awards after he received six nominations as well.

The annual awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles and is expected to be a star studded even that celebrates the music industry.  The ceremony will be held on February 12^th.

Intel has also announced plans to team up with Google to help to build the infrastructures so that Android phones can use Intel technology.

With the computer industry switching towards mobile at a very fast rate, it is clear that Intel need to get this one right or they might end up losing out on a valuable chunk of the market.

The makers of the car Smart have called it the perfect type of car for a city life. The car is called “for-us” and is a scaled down version of the all American style pick-up truck.

Smart is car company that is part of the German company Daimler.

Smart has announced that their version of the pick-up is so small that it could fit into the back of most conventional pick-up trucks. The car is roomy enough for two people and has enough space for  carrying bulky items and even has the capacity to charge the front wheels of two electric bicycles.

The truck is electric powered and hopes to combine the ease of use of pickup up with the environmentally friendly nature of an eco-car.

The car was revealed by Smart at the North American International Auto Show.

Smart are hoping to break the US market after recent attempts in promoting their other small cars have not proved successful, with many Americans using larger cars for the country’s roads.

The Chinese engineers have made a chemical that allows the cotton material to clean itself and remove stains and smells when it is put out to hang in sunlight.

The treatment of the cotton is a cheap process according to the researchers and could mean a revolution for the fabric industry. It would be a huge step forward for functional clothing which is becoming more in demand from consumers.

The research has been carried out at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Hubei University for Nationalities in China.

The chemical that is used to treat the cotton is titanium dioxide, which is a chemical that is well known to be able break down organic pollutants.

This chemical is already put to good use in self-cleaning windows and odour free socks.

However ITV have announced that the number of people who watched the this year final was down by 4 million when it was compared to the number of viewers that the show attracted last last year.

15.5 million people watched last night’s final compared to last year when 19.4 million people watched Matt Cardle triumph.

However the average weekly TV rating of this year’s final mean that this was the third highest ranking series in terms of viewers since the series began back in 2004.

This year’s show had an average weekly viewing rating of 11 million people.

Little Mix have made UK X Factor history by being the first band to win. Their mentor was Tulisa who is a member of the band N-Dubz. Tulisa was brought in to replace Cheryl Cole.

The research was carried out by a think tank and found that around 8 out of 10 people thought that the family to which they belong did not fit the stereotype of two married parents with two children.

Half of the people who were involved in the study thought that their family was under-represented by the government and the media.

According to the think tank the family unit is becoming more and more diverse and as a result there is no such thing as a typical family any more.

More and more people are also becoming tolerant of same sex relationships who have children and also of single parent families.

The survey was carried out in the UK and over half of those who were surveyed said that the view of the traditional family is outdated and needs to be rethought by society.

HMV went onto say that nothing should be read into the error and that it does plan on allowing customers to pre-order from the three finalists’ pages.

The number of children who do not own books is on the rise according to the report and now lies at around 1 in 3 children who not have a book at home. This number was at 1 in 10 back in 2005, so the figures are proving to be worrying.

According to the research, children who have access to books at home are more likely to be above average when it comes to their school work. This is based on a study that looked at 18,000 school aged children across the UK.

It was also found that children who were from poorer families were less likely to own books. This is compared to children who came from better off families who said that they had access to books of their own at home.

It raises concerns that poorer families are missing out on educational opportunities when it comes to reading abilities.
